HISTORY OF BIG PINE KEY by Jerry Wilkinson https://bigpinekey.com/history-page-3/

The Atwell house was the oldest structure on Big Pine Key.

It was built in 1907 by Walter Kemp of Key West and later bought by Maggie and Henry Atwell.

After much debate regarding its fate, the structure was moved to Key West in 1999 and is now part of the Flagler Station Overseas Railway tour there.

Maggie Atwell used to provide food to the railway workers during the construction of Flagler’s railroad.
