Jane Ann Garcia was born on April 26, 1938, in Key West, Florida, to Jose Evelio Garcia BELLO (1917-2009) and Clara Belle LARIZ (1917-1965).
Jane attended Truman Elementary School and Key West High School. She graduated from high school in Honolulu, Hawaii where her husband was stationed with the Navy. She traveled the world with him and their children. Jane and Leo settled in Charleston, S.C.
After raising her children, Jane attended the Baptist College at Charleston where she was inducted into the Zeta Chapter of Alpha Chi, a National College honor scholarship society. She studied English and History.
Jane was active in her church, the Church of God, and taught Sunday School. She left behind many of her Sunday School lessons. She also wrote poetry.
Jane was passionate about family and family history and traveled all over researching and collecting family stories for future generations. She was known throughout the family as “the family historian.” If anyone had a question about the ancestors, Jane was who they sought out for answers.

Jane with pigeon. Her sister, Josephine says Jane used to scare them by chasing them with a pigeon. Jane remembers she got the shoes when she was five and they were too big. She was so happy when she grew into them. There are little scotty dogs on the shoes and Jane loved those.

MARRIAGE
Jane Ann Garcia married Leo Rowland in Monroe, Florida, in 1955 when she was 17 years old.

Jane Ann Garcia died on November 13, 2021, in Charleston, South Carolina, when she was 83 years old.
