In 1940, Andrew lived at 1019 Watson St in Key West, Florida with his in-laws (John Canizares and Ada), his wife, Mabel, and their daughter Clara. Andrew worked as a carpenter.

In 1945, Andrew, Mabel, and little Clara lived at 1207 White St in Key West with his in-laws, John Canizares and Ada.


NOTE: Josephine GARCIA and her sister, Jane GARCIA frequently argued if the man in the hat was ‘Uncle Manolo’ or ‘Uncle John’. Jane insists that this is Uncle Manolo because of the hat.

Andrew worked as a grounds gardener at the Naval Station in Key West. He received a commendation letter from Captain G. R. Reinhart of the U.S. Fleet Sonar School in Key West on August 3, 1959 for “his industry, his ability to see what needs to be done, and his prompt, enthusiastic action to accomplish his work, extensive knowledge of the local flora, its care and its history.”
