Candido ‘Beby’ Garcia was born on September 22, 1909, in Key West, Florida, to Maria Carmen Amparo Rodriguez (1885-1959 b. Cuba) and Jose Garcia Bello (1871-1950 b. Cuba).

On Aug 15 1911, Carmen Rodriguez, Blanca Rosa Garcia, and Candido Garcia sailed from Havana to Key West on the SS Mascotte.

In 1914, Candido lived with his parents at 809 Catherine Street in Key West.

In 1920, Candido lived with his parents at 615 Simonton St in Key West, Florida. His father worked as a cigar maker. 

In 1930, Candido lived with his parents at 511 United St in Key West. Candido, worked in a cigar factory.

Candido ‘Beby’ Garcia married Blanca Diedier in Florida on April 19, 1930, when he was 20 years old.

In 1940, Candido lived with his wife, Blanca and daughters, Anelia and Clarabelle at 515 Oliva St in Key West. Candido worked as a washer at a pressing club.

Candido registered for the World War II Draft on Oct 16 1940 in Key West. His place of employment is listed as Ishamel Calleja at 1002 Duval St. (I looked up Ishamel Calleja in Key West and this was a person. KYH). Candido is described as 5’7″ 140 lbs with brown hair, brown eyes, and a light complexion. 

In 1950, Candido lived with his wife, Blanca and daughter, Clarabelle at 1327 Duncan St in Key West. Candido owned a cafe.


Candido ‘Beby’ Garcia died on February 17, 1993, in Key West, Florida, when he was 83 years old. He was laid to rest in the Key West Cemetery.
