Robert Joseph HAMILTON was born on November 6, 1910, in Chokoloskee, Florida, to John Leon HAMILTON (1885-1964) and Sarah Elizabeth JOHNSON (1889-1963).

MARRIAGE

Robert married Lola Lee CARRAWAY on January 6, 1926, in Tallahassee, Florida. Lola Lee was born in Wakulla County in 1911 to Laborn Maxwell “Buster” Carraway and Lular Eva Brooks Carraway. Lola Lee was previously married to Edwin Bryant Smith, 7 April 1931, in Franklin County, Florida. Family lore says that Lola Lee was found by police dead in an alley, year unknown.

CHILDREN

Lula May HAMILTON was born on January 15, 1927, in Wakulla, Florida.

In April of 1930, Robert sailed with Joaquin (King) Gomes aboard the USS Gov Cobb from Havana, Cuba to Key West, Florida.


In June 1930, Robert lived with his parents and siblings (line 24-29) on Lostmans River in the Florida Everglades. His grandfather, Richard (Robert) Hamilton and uncles lived nearby.

DEATH 

Robert disappeared in the Everglades islands in February 1932 with his cousin, William ‘Buddy’ HAMILTON. Their bodies were never found, and they were presumed murdered. Robert was 21 years old.
