1n 1912, Francisco Garcia his wife, Philomeana sailed on the SS Olivette from Havana Cuba to Key West.  With them were the children, Sara, Olivia, Juan, Berardo, and Maria.

In 1919, Frank and Philomena lived at 1610 9th Ave in Tampa, Florida. Frank is listed as a cigarmaker.

In 1920, she lived in Brooklyn, New York with her husband, Frank Garcia in the home of Charlie and Mary Manrique. Mary was Philomena’s daughter. Also living in the household were Mary’s siblings, Rose, Berardo, and Sarah. Charlie and Mary both worked as cigarmakers, as did Frank Garcia. Rose worked in a dress goods factory and Berardo worked as a steel worker in a foundry.

In 1925, Philomena lived at 98 Washington St. in Brooklyn, New York with her husband Frank, and children: Mary, Berardo, John, Oliva, and Sarah. Frank, Mary, and Oliva all worked at a cigar factory. Berardo and John were both office clerks.

In 1930, Philomena and Frank lived with their son, Berardo at 1242 Fulton St. in Brooklyn, New York with their children, Juan, Carlisto, Oliva, and Sarah. Berardo and Juan both worked as clerks in a soap store. Carlisto worked as a manufacturer in a cigar factory. Oliva worked as a clerk in a drug store.

In 1940, Philomena lived at 274 Rogers Ave in Brooklyn, New York with her daughter Sarah and her husband, John. Also living there were Carlo, Berardo, and nephew Emil Gonzalez. John’s sister, Sieda is also listed. John worked as a packer at a candy factory and Sieda worked as a salesgirl in a retail store. Carlo was a salesman in a food store and Berardo was a clerk in a drug store.

In 1950, Philmena lived in Brooklyn, New York with her son, Carlos and her daughter Sarah. Sarah’s husband Emilio Hernadez also lived with them. Carlos worked as a cigarmaker and Emilio was an accountant for a paper company.

Losses

  • Her sister Teresa L. died on June 9, 1904, in Key West, Florida, when Philomena was 29 years old.
  • Her father Manuel Andres passed away on November 2, 1904, in Key West, Florida, at the age of 63. 
  • Her mother Coleta V. passed away on January 15, 1922, in Key West, Florida, at the age of 75. 
  • Her daughter Rosario passed away on June 5, 1928, in New York City, New York, at the age of 33. 
  • Her sister Mercedes died on August 3, 1938, in Key West, Florida, when Philomena was 64 years old. 
  • Her brother Manuel Andres died on February 18, 1947, in Miami, Florida, when Philomena was 72 years old. 
  • Her brother Bernaldo Domingo died in July 1957 in Monroe, Florida, when Philomena was 83 years old. 
  • Her brother Cayetano Florencio died on August 25, 1967, in Tampa, Florida, when Philomena was 93 years old. 

Death

Philomena Lariz died on March 28, 1971, in Hillsborough, Florida, when she was 96 years old. She was laid to rest at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park in Tampa.
